LADY SLOTH release their new single "Disaster", available April 25, 2025, on digital formats via Trailing Twelve Records.
Los Angeles-based indie rock duo LADY SLOTH return with "Disaster", their first release since the 2022 EP Forest Behind The Fog. A high-energy anthem exploring love, loss, and reconciliation, the track blends raw lyricism with infectious melodies.
LADY SLOTH is the indie rock project of singer-songwriter Justina Shandler and percussionist/songwriter Jon Lane. The duo formed after a spontaneous songwriting session in a Cambria, California, hotel room, bonding over a shared love of indie artists like Phoebe Bridgers and Dawes. Their sound is defined by confessional lyrics, driving rock rhythms, and dynamic storytelling.
Written after their final breakup, "Disaster" reflects the push-and-pull nature of their relationship—the cycle of breaking up, reconnecting, and avoiding tough conversations. The title encapsulates the inevitable heartbreak they saw coming each time they got back together.
Jon Lane wrote the chorus in the wake of their split, but the song remained unfinished for five months as they maintained a no-contact boundary. When they reconnected as friends, they revisited the idea and completed it together. The result is a high-energy track that captures both their emotional history and their evolution beyond it.
"We figured finishing the song together would be a meaningful way to process everything. Not only did we create something we’re proud of, but it also helped solidify our friendship in a new way."
Produced by Sean Gould in North Hollywood, "Disaster" features LADY SLOTH’s signature sound—soaring melodies, punchy instrumentation, and an earworm chorus. The lyrics encapsulate the emotional weight of their past:
"And we’ll talk like we aren’t shattered / I think we’re headed for another disaster / And we’ll love like none of it matters / I think we’re headed for another disaster."
Originally, the song was laced with expletives, amplifying its raw emotion. As it evolved, they reworked the lyrics to maintain its intensity while ensuring broader resonance.
With press coverage from Wonderland, Under The Radar, and Ones To Watch, LADY SLOTH continues to carve out a unique space in indie rock. "Disaster" is more than just a song—it’s a story of transformation, growth, and finding harmony after heartbreak.
"Disaster" is out April 25, 2025, on digital formats via Trailing Twelve.

BIO
LADY SLOTH is the indie rock project of Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter, Justina Shandler, and percussionist/songwriter, Jon Lane.
Growing up on opposite sides of the country (Jon in California and Justina in Virginia) both were big players in their respective scenes. Jon's former band, Uprooted, landed multiple placements with Redbull, and Justina's solo project has a prominent feature on the Hulu show Good Trouble as well as a handful of placements on Temptation Island, and one on the Amazon Prime series Forever Summer: Hamptons.
Brought together by a shared love of indie phenoms, Phoebe Bridgers and Dawes, LADY SLOTH was born in a hotel room on vacation in Cambria, California. Jon said to Justina, “Hey we should write a song together.” Several pages of scribbles and one bottle of wine later, their first song was born.
With coverage including Wonderland, Under The Radar, and Ones To Watch, LADY SLOTH tactfully employs blaring guitars and driving rock rhythms to carry their charmingly confessional lyrics, creating a sound all their own.
