NYIKO Recruits Music Pals, Announces Crush (Remixes) Featuring Party Nails, Derek Simpson & Stone Irr (2/28/20)
NYIKO has announced the upcoming release of Crush (Remixes), a 7-song compilation of reimagined versions of tracks from their collaborative EP with The White Electric. The compilation featuring Party Nails, Derek Simpson, Stone Irr, Zoe Polanski, Hypnotic Hyena, Jonny Wanzer, and Foamek will be released digitally on February 28th.
NYIKO explains, "Collaboration is one of my favorite aspects of making music, so I invited some of my closest music pals to re-imagine the Crush EP.” NYIKO says the results “wildly exceeded my expectations. It’s honestly quite emotional for me. I’ve shed tears while listening to it.”
9x16 (Derek Simpson Remix)
Derek Simpson trades-in neon lights for sunlight on their bubbly and wistful flip of “9x16.” Based in Long-Beach, CA, Simpson has a knack for blending experimental hip-hop elements into psychedelic pop structures.

Runaway (Party Nails Remix)
Halling from Los Angeles by way of New York, Party Nails gives “Runaway (Anywhere With U)” a proper big beat dance remix. Stripping away the romantic pace of the original, Party Nails ups the tempo and lays in gritty synth bass with dazzling technicolor textures.

9x16 (Hypnotic Hyena Remix)
Staying true to their pseudonym, Hypnotic Hyena turns the lights down low for a drowsy R&B-esque rework of “9x16.” Currently living in Los Angeles, Hypnotic Hyena creates shimming soundscapes that equal parts smooth and confident.
All The Time (Foamek Remix)
Connecticut producer Foamek completely transforms the slow-burning “All The Time” into a deftly crafted trance journey.
Lemon (Stone Irr Bedroom Rework)
Los Angeles via Indiana singer/songwriter Stone Irr wields a heavy emotional knife with their stunning cover of “Lemon.” Irr’s soft and earnest vocals, charmingly lo-fi guitar, and hopeful piano chords, blend together to form something that is warm, lush and heart-wrenching.

9x16 (Jonny Wanzer Cover)
Jonny Wanzer brings raw energy packaged in an anthemic grunge-pop cover of “9x16.” Wanzer, hailing from Burlington, VT, channels heroic grit and inventiveness by combining elements of early-90s rock, fuzz, psych, and modern indie pop.
All The Time (Zoe Polanski Remix)
Tel Aviv based Zoe Polanski is a producer, songwriter, singer and film composer. Polanski slowly reveals a rich and enthralling atmosphere on their remix of “All The Time.” The vocals are sampled to act as texture rather than melody, while hypnotic synth steadily dances all around.
