Derek Simpson releases “222,” the second single off of his upcoming third full-length album, ‘Somehow,’ available via Digital Formats via Trailing Twelve Records.

Trailing Twelve Records presents “222” the second single off Somehow: the third album from Los Angeles, California-based artist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Derek Simpson. Experimentation is at the core of Somehow. Releasing each of the tracks in sequential order every Thursday for ten weeks straight, Simpson will give listeners a recurring opportunity to connect with each song individually, not too dissimilar from the weekly episode format of a bygone era. An examination of falling in love, Somehow is a wide-eyed look at romance, identity, memory, freedom, and, ultimately, the incredible vulnerability and joy that comes from loving someone unconditionally. This sentiment is best illustrated in Simpson’s second single “222.”

On the driving groove of “222,” Simpson speak-sings flirtatious quips with endearing confidence, while bouncing bass and glittering synths enhance the light and playful nature of the song.

“What’s your ETA? Don’t say, / We’re always like 20 minutes late anyway

The music video follows Simpson exploring the city with his love interest. Simpson films the mysterious woman similar to that of a muse - highlighting her beauty by capturing casual movements. Comparable to the change from day to night, the video’s tone moves from innocent and flirtatious to more sultry and passionate.

“222” is out June 20th, on Digital Formats via Trailing Twelve Records. Watch the music video below.
